Your brain receives messages from your body to release a certain amount of a certain hormone. The hormones then enter the bloodstream and circulate through your body to activate targeted cells.


There are numerous factors that can cause a hormonal imbalance. Some are obvious, like puberty, age, diabetes, over or underactive thyroid, menopause, PCOS, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Others are not always obvious such as stress, trauma, lifestyle approaches, eating disorders, tumours, incorrect diet and even medication. Thus the brain is either receiving the wrong messages, the wrong amount of hormones or the wrong hormone are released.
